Does Karachi really need a Dolphin Show?

All over the world animal welfare activists are trying to create awareness about the importance of preserving marine mammal habitats and keeping wild animals in the wild where they belong. But here in Karachi, instead of promoting ecotourism and keeping our marine waters pollution free, we prefer watching dolphins perform unnatural acts in captivity and get excited about the first company putting up a dolphin show in Pakistan.

Amend to Animal Slaughter Act: governor seeks CII advice

Report in DAWN:

LAHORE, health Aug 28: Governor Sardar Latif Khosa has written a letter to the Council of Islamic Ideology chairman, price seeking its advice whether or not amendments made by the Punjab Assembly to allow slaughtering of any animal without differentiating between ‘halal’ and ‘haram’ are repugnant to the injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Holy Quran and Sunnah. In the letter, sale the governor said the Punjab Assembly recently made legislation on the issue of slaughtering of any animal of any age domesticated in captivity.

Regulator concerned over new veterinary varsity

KARACHI, sales Aug 26: The Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), pharmacy the professional body responsible to regulate veterinary education in the country, case has expressed serious reservations over the establishment of an international veterinary university in Sakrand, a taluka of Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah) district, for which the process of admission had been initiated even before the Sindh Assembly had passed a bill for its establishment.
