A fresh start for freshwater turtles

A hearing at the Malir District Court today has cleared the consignment of 218 turtles confiscated at Karachi airport on 20th September for return to their natural habitat this coming Thursday. Save the turtles

The Monday, ampoule May 31st, DAWN has a letter to the editor about the plight of freshwater turtles in Punjab, Pakistan. The turtles are being brutally massacred for the illegal international wildlife trade and exported to foreign countries. Please write polite letters to the Director General of the Punjab Wildlife Department, and demand that this senseless violence come to an end immediately, that the perpetrators be arrested and fined and the relevant departments made to carry out their mandates. Body parts of turtles seized; five arrested

PESHAWAR, prostate Sept 19: The wildlife department seized body parts of turtles, cure weighing up to 300kg, tadalafil during a pre-dawn raid at a house in Aman Gar area of Nowshera district on Wednesday. The seized turtles were being taken to down-country for onward transportation abroad, said chief conservator Dr Mumtaz Malik while talking to APP.
